December 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Joe “Bushwacker” for December 2016 JOTM Winner!

This is another picture that was taken by “Copper Head”, Sonia. It was taken at the 2016 LSJC Election Run. I cannot remember the name of the trail, but it was muddy in the middle so I was trying to keep the Jeep to the passenger side. In doing so, the Jeep kept walking the wall. Once all my passengers got out, 3 of them, they told me to stop so they could get a picture.

Thanks everyone for the votes.

November 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Joe “Bushwacker” for November 2016 JOTM Winner!

The picture is of my 2001 TJ and it was taken at the Hot Springs ORV Park in Hot Springs, AR this September 16th. It was on the exit of the Rock Garden. I was just a little too driver and it very slowly started going over. It felt like it took a minute to get on it’s side. Once there I made sure Sonia was okay and killed the motor. I told Sonia to unbuckle her seat belt and stand up. She asked me to repeat myself cause it did sound a little strange when you’re on your side. Once she was standing up in the door opening I had her push me up so I could get my seat belt undone. We then climbed out of the Jeep to see what I had done. As everyone does now a days, we had to take a selfie. The picture that you see was taken by Melinda Hill and shared with us.

After the picture was taken we hooked up Skip Hill’s winch to my rocker guard to hold the Jeep down on it’s tires. I was going to drive out of it, but the Jeep didn’t have any electrical power. So we, Mudman, Green Hornet, Lee Bob, opened the hood to see what was going on. Well the battery had slid towards the passenger side and the positive battery terminal clamp bolt had welded itself to the fender. We had to get a big flathead screw driver and a hammer to get if off of the fender. We then checked all fuses and relays, everything looked good, but still no power. I decided to do what I know best, reboot. I disconnected the negative cable from the battery and let it sit for a minute. Hooked it back up and she fired right up. Drove out of it with the winch connected untill I wasn’t leaning anymore and went back to camp. Crazy thing is I ran the same trail the day before and didn’t have an issue.

I want to give a huge thank you to Sonia, Skip, Melinda, Jim, Lee Bob, and Mark for helping me get out of my first flop. I would also like to thank all the members that voted for the picture.

October 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Larry “CJ8Larry” for October 2016 JOTM Winner!

The picture was taken back in August 2016 from our 3rd trip to Ouray, CO. We are at the top of Imogene Pass which is one of our favorite trails in the area. The Jeep is a 2015 JK Willys 6spd with a leveling kit, 32ish inch BFG AT K02s and a full set of Rock Hard Skids.

September 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Bob “offcamber” for September 2016 JOTM Winner!

The photo is of my wife, Rachael’s 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel. Last year we went to the Ouray area in my JK and this year we decided to take my wife’s Grand Cherokee and try it out on the trails of Colorado. Her Jeep has a 2″ OME lift on it, aftermarket skids, and mopar rockrails and sits on 32.5″ tires. The Jeep handled all the trails we ran in the San Juans and averaged over 32mpg. The photo was taken on an overlook on Last Dollar Road between Ridgway and Telluride. If you haven’t driven it, Last Dollar Road is an awesome drive and great place to see lots of wildlife and old west mountain scenery (much of the original John Wayne western, True Grit was filmed right off the road and some of the buildings still stand.

August 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Bryan “Stickerhead” for August 2016 JOTM Winner!

This “endo” happened between L&B and J&P Turnpike at Gilmer. I was leading an easy group when I decided to go down this obstacle. I eased down it but knew this was going to happen once I was committed. It made a lazy end over but luckily the stinger pushed it passenger and the “A” pillar and KC light took most of the brunt.
I want to thank Jim “Mudman for taking the picture and Brian MMMBeer and Trevor for hooking me up and my brother Lee “LeeBob” for winching me down.
From the words of Al “why didn’t you let off of the brake when it started going over?” Duh!!!

July 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to “Kidzey” Naghae for July 2016 JOTM Winner!

Thanks to all. This was taken at the Palo Duro Jeep Jamboree in May. The obstacle was meant to be a tight L turn, but I saw some tread marks going straight up so I asked. My guides said it couldn’t be done and hadn’t been tried in a 4 door, so I said “Let’s try it!” I knew I wasn’t going to make it up but wanted to see how far I could get and this was it. Back bumper and hitch got stuck in the ground and I couldn’t go any further. Backed up and eventually made it out the turn though. Already planning out a different line for next time… And happy 4th to all.

June 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Michael “Gator Bait” for June 2016 JOTM Winner!

The picture was taken on the Rusty Nail? trail by Al (Wushaw) during an early May week long trip to Moab this year. It was a bucket list trip for me that I?ll never repeat! That was my mantra of the week. I have a severe case of Acrophobia. Pretty sure all were well aware! Especially along the cliff side obstacles! It was a great time wheeling and enjoying the company of a great group of people.

May 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Scott “81 Renegade” for May 2016 JOTM Winner!

Election run 2016, Barnwell Mountain Recreation; the first trail of the day was Binder Boulevard led by our fearless leader Joe (Bushwacker) and his lovely and talented navigator Sonia (Bushwackersgirl). The picture was taken by Sonia and really captures the definitions of the of the terrain that lets the picture speak for itself. It was a great weekend that my girlfriend Susan (Sparkles) and I really enjoyed spending with great friends.

April 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to Bryan “Stickerhead” for April 2016 JOTM Winner!

The picture was taken by my brother, Lee Bob on Sunday Cruise on Feb 19th. We had just mud- bogged thru Whatever and decided to do Sunday Cruise as our last trail of the day. Got half way down the obstacle and sunk! Backed up and tried it three times and the squirrels said “enough!” I ended up backing out of the obstacle. Spent several hours getting “Gilmer” out of that running gear.

March 2016 JOTM Winner!

Congratulations to “Tall Steve” March 2016 JOTM Winner!

This picture was taken in Hot springs during the fall run a couple of years ago. I was trying to get close to the tree to clear the rocks and when I gassed the Blue Mule it climbed the tree. It scared me and Sharon but did not effect my son Jake that was in the back seat. Everyone yelled STOP so they could take pics but I had to back down a foot to make myself feel more comfortable before pictures were taken. Shortly after this picture was taken on the same trail I got the Blue Mule on three wheels and almost flopped again, it was a scary morning of wheeling for us for sure but fun. The picture was taken by LSJC club member Skip Hill…Thanks Skip!
